Q. Is there a way to simply extract the files distributed with a .run file without executing it?
A. You can do this by using the —noexec argument, preferably in combination with —target to give it a directory to extract the files. You don’t need to use this with the makeself command, but rather the archive:
./installer.run —noexec —target /tmp/destination
